Energy Saving Solutions
The term energy saving relates to reducing the wattage used in a particular fitting. These days there are many ways to reduce the amount of energy consumption you use. This will generate savings on your electricity bills and also help contribute to the environment we live in.
Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
There are many types of globes on the market now that are direct replacements for your non-energy saving bulbs. One of the most commonly known energy saving solutions are the Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs. Also known as a spiral, the compact fluorescent light bulbs or ‘CFL’s’ are only using around 20% of the electricity drawn from a standard incandescent bulb. The lifespan of a CFL is 8 times of an incandescent bulb. This will in turn save the amount of money spent on replacing globes. CFL’s also come in three different colours; warm white, cool white and day light.
Please see the table below to determine the wattage of the bulb you need for your particular light fitting.
CFL Output Table
| CFL Wattage | Wattage Output | Colours Available |
|---|---|---|
| 7w | 25w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 9w | 40w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 11w | 60w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 15w | 75w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 18w | 90w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 20w | 100w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |
| 25w | 125w | Warm White, Cool White & Day Light |

By examining our table below you will see the huge savings you get from switching to LED.
| Halogen Bulb Wattage Rating | LED Bulb Wattage Rating | LED Bulb Output |
|---|---|---|
| 50w | 5w | 40-50w |
| 50w | 10w | 60w |
Benefits of using LED light globes
- Energy Efficiency – As explained above LED can save you up to 90% on your running costs on lighting.
- Heat Factor – LED globes run very cool. So not only being a safety feature, the globes also won’t over-heat causing them to blow too soon.
- Lifetime – LED globes can last anywhere from 50,000-100,000 hours. This will save you from having to purchase replacement bulbs every 2000 hours (1-2 years).
- Led globes also come in warm white and cool white.
There is a huge range of LED globes to choose from, so please feel free to contact one of our friendly and professional staff to determine if you can save even more power by converting to LED.
